Position Summary: The Inspection Manager is responsible for overseeing the inspection processes and ensuring compliance with AS9100 standards. This role involves managing inspection activities for work in progress, first article inspections, and final inspections, as well as leading quality initiatives and driving continuous improvement within the manufacturing process. Work Environment:The work environment in our machine shop is temperature-controlled for comfort, providing both air conditioning and heating throughout the 36,000 sq. ft. facility. Noise levels may vary depending on the machines in operation, requiring all employees to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed. We maintain a clean and safe environment to support productivity and employee well-being.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Employees are occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. • Manage inspection schedule and work with operations manager to hit needed milestones.
• Perform root cause analysis and corrective action for non-conforming products, collaborating with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
• Lead inspection activities for work in progress, ensuring that all products meet quality specifications and standards.
• Maintain the quality management system in accordance with AS9100 standards, ensuring compliance with industry requirements.
• Conduct first article inspections (FAI) to verify that new or modified parts meet all design and manufacturing requirements.
• Oversee final inspections of finished products, ensuring adherence to specifications before shipment.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures to improve product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
• Assist with internal audits, customer audits, and oversee corrective action processes related to inspection findings.
Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in quality management and inspection, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards is preferred.
• Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other precision inspection tools.
• Excellent analytical skills with experience in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
